New Orleans Revisited

It’s been five and a half years… how come New Orleans still needs help?  New Orleans is a segmented city- though the vibrant and colorful New Orleans spirit spans all of the city’s parishes, the New Orleans reconstruction effort is undercut by racial and socioeconomic discrimination.  We shouldn’t discount the suffering of the wealthy living in the French Quarter, but we should recognize the incredible disparity in the speed of reconstruction in the wealthy areas and the Lower Ninth Ward.  The Lower 9th still has some homes that remain untouched since the disaster, and homes still have plywood panels that announce the number of dead that rescuers found in the wake of the storm. The LNW is still waiting for most of its’ residents to come back home, but take a look at some of the exciting changes that have happened by copying and pasting the URL below into your browser.
